Pillow Forts Encourage Creativity

You watch your little one run to the sofa and pull all of the cushions out. You already know what’s about to happen and give them a pass for the sake of building a fort. What goes into building a pillow fort?

Well, you’ll need lots of pillows, a few blankets, including a favorite blankie, and maybe a cuddly stuffed bear or two. Couch cushions, bed pillows, and large blankets all come together to form a solid fortress. Although it might look like a huge mess in your eyes, your child sees it much differently.

They’ve just mastered strategically placing all of these items together to ensure the structure is sound and there are no holes. Through their eyes, it’s a magical castle with a password to enter and secret hideouts. As they build, their creativity grows and is put to the test.

It Creates a Safe Place

As adults, it’s often difficult to stop and think about all of the struggles and hardships a child goes through on a regular basis. Sure, they don’t have a boss to answer to or bills to pay, but their young minds have a lot of stress put on them as well. Creating a pillow fort also creates a safe place for children.

It’s their escape from all of the realities of the world. While in their fort, they can be free of anything going on around them or in the household. It also gives them a few minutes to avoid parental control.

They can fill their forts with all their best stuffed buddies and feel a sense of comfort.

Pillow Forts Provide Privacy

Little ones need their privacy just as much as we adults do. They need their own time away from everyone to sit in their own thoughts. These moments are necessary in order for them to learn more about themselves.

Pillow forts give them the perfect opportunity to exclude themselves from the rest of the house and relax in privacy. They might decide to read a book, color, draw, or hang out with their stuffed animals in peace and quiet.

Let’s Add Some Fun to Your Pillow Fort

How can you make your little one’s pillow fort even more enjoyable? Finding them a new fluffy stuffed animal to become their pillow fort buddy is a great start. Then, discover your inner child and spend quality time with them by helping them build the fort or having them give you a tour of the inside.

The most important part of fort-building is having fun with those you cherish. To find more home and entertainment posts, check back here often!
