DVC Membership Fees: Everything to Know

Clare Louise

Orlando is the fourth most visited city in the US. And everyone knows why they come here (Hint: it’s not the beach).

Tourists from all over the globe pour into Orlando each year to visit Disney World. Countless families are visiting year after year, and sometimes twice a year.

If you’re a Disney fanatic, and you like coming back again and again, there’s no greater opportunity than a DVC membership. The Disney Vacation Club is the timeshare program you’ve been waiting for.

But there are DVC membership fees that you need to thoroughly understand before you sign on the dotted line.

So what are the fees you can expect to pay as a DVC member? Keep reading below to find out now.

What Is Disney Vacation Club?

So what is the DVC program, and how does it work? It’s similar to a timeshare program. With traditional timeshares, you are essentially purchasing a fraction of ownership in a vacation property or resort.

When you do this, you are guaranteed access to the property for one week, and sometimes more, every single year.

But Disney’s version is a bit different. Rather than getting a week at a specific property each year, you get DVC points depending on the type of membership you have.

You can then use those points to customize your own Disney vacation every year. You can use the points to reserve stays at the Disney resort of your choice.

You can use them all at once by reserving a popular property during a busier time frame, such as Christmas Vacation. Or you can spread them out and take multiple cheaper trips by booking a less popular property or by booking during the low season.

DVC Membership Fees

Just like a traditional timeshare program, the DVC has various membership fees involved. First off, you’ll need to buy into the program.

You can buy a new membership, directly from DVC, or you can search resale listings for DVC memberships.

With DVC resale, you can save money by purchasing an existing membership from someone who no longer needs to membership. Buying a new membership can cost around $30K.

Along with the upfront cost, you’ll need to pay annual dues. The price of your annual dues depends on your home resort. You can expect to pay between $800 and $1,500 per year to maintain your annual membership and receives your DVC points for the year.

Each resort sets a flat fee per point. So you might spend $8 per point at the resort you choose. If you own 100 points, you’ll multiply $8 by 100 for an annual due of $800. Points usually increase a few cents per year.

Plan Your Disney Vacation Today

The DVC program isn’t cheap. But if taking a Disney vacation every year, or multiple times per year, is important to you, it might be the best option for your family.

DVC membership fees on an annual basis are quite affordable, especially considering the rising costs of Disney’s spectacular resorts. So what are you waiting for? Get your membership today so you can start planning your next trip.
