Faculty development program for teachers. Resolving dilemmas in practice, the department of special education holds a 2-day course intended to help participants face the dilemmas they encounter while working with children with disabilities. The program is run by practice experts with experience in dealing with atypical children and their families. Each day consists of lectures and workshops, the major topics being the recently revised curricula and changing approaches to technology.

The purpose of the Faculty Development Programme (FDP) is to increase the level and quality of special education teacher training at NUI Galway. FDP will be delivered by a team of experienced Special Education Teachers who have had extensive teaching experience across a range of schools, sectors, and settings with a specific focus on the development of their teaching methods and subject content knowledge in designing, planning, and delivering Special Education programs. The Centre for Special Education will develop and design a program of support for those involved.

The TNA special education teacher courses are awarded only to special education teachers, target educational specialists, and masters who have been teaching for less than 5 years. The focus of the program is to improve their skill level by integrating the latest pedagogical and educational theories and practices. The Faculty Development Programme for Teachers was first endorsed by the Ministry of Education (MOE) in 1993 in response to requests from school principals and teachers for further training. This self-financed initiative includes three workshops that are taught by teachers from MOE, NUS, and NTU.

This development program will help build your knowledge in the theory and practice of special education. The two-year program has been designed specifically for special education teachers at different stages of their careers, from early career teachers to more experienced practitioners. It will cover a range of different topics including learning theories that influence special education, pupil and staff development and wellbeing, behavior management and communication with parents, teaching and learning information technology with older pupils, and pupils with a statement of special educational needs.

The Faculty Development Programme for Teachers in Special Education is a professional development course, leading to the document issued by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. Finalizing a Teacher Development Programme for our Special Education Teachers for the next three academic years (2016/2017, 2017/2018, and 2018/2019) having in mind the main objective of the program is to develop Teachers skills, attitudes, and pedagogical practices which will ensure students with SEND are educated and supported in the Mainstream. Orientation, assessment, and access planning are the three key components of special education teacher courses. The purpose of these courses is to ensure that special education teachers have the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to provide learning that is appropriate for students with a variety of learning needs
