Angelica Morissette

Addiction is becoming very common in the present modern day, and somehow, it is not something to shy away from these days. Many people are falling into the trap of abusing drugs because of the modernization around the world and the media glorifying drug and alcohol abuse.

Smoking and Alcohol are portrayed as part of life, and young people soon forget to draw their limits. As a result, many youngsters are facing addiction issues today.

Addiction treatment is also growing and developing as the medical fraternity is adding more and more addiction treatment facilities, and research is coming up with deaddiction solutions both in drug-based and non-drug-based methods. Both of these methods are important ways to treat deaddiction and need to work side by side so as to achieve the best results.

What is Addiction?

Being addicted to any kind of substance, be it alcohol, cigarettes, prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, etc., is all termed substance abuse.

Addiction is when a person has no control over substance abuse and is habitually abusing any of these drugs mentioned above and is not able to stop when they want to.

The drugs become a part of their life, and they are no longer in control of their needs and abusive actions. Such people may develop many side effects that not only harm their own health but can be a social and public nuisance as well.

It is important to remove addiction from the grassroots levels as this can trap many other people into it and can curb the social and economic fronts for nations. Most types of addictions happen over time and start over a harmless abuse or two. A few drinks, a few cigarettes, a few times of usage of any narcotics and psychedelic drugs etc.

It may soon become a habit, and the user ends up falling prey to regular usage and becomes addicted by being unable to stop abusing the drugs as and when they want to. Most kinds of addiction are seen among younger generations, and the age range is between 15 and 40 years old.

Treating Addiction

Thanks to the many efforts of Deaddiction Centres powered by the government and the medical fraternity, there are many governments and private addiction treatment facilities today that offer excellent rehabilitation for those who want to recover from this heinous disorder. Deaddiction centers offer both medical and paramedical treatment methods that slowly help patients in recovering from substance abuse and become sober over time.

Below are some of the most common methods that are used by such facilities:

  • Detox Therapy

Detox is the primary manner to help and kick start deaddiction. Using various medical methods, the drug and its influence is flushed out from the body and the person becomes free of any toxin left behind after a few days so as to start cleaning for the recovery.

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT is one of the most effective therapy which focuses on introducing positive thoughts and recognizing positive and negative associations when it comes to the substance they abused. It helps in molding the behavior with a stronger mindset using conditioned behaviors.

  • Group Therapy

Group therapy is especially great for people to form social connections and recover together. The meetings and group sessions help people in staying motivated and help each other stay sober.
