Should I Use Wall-To-Wall Carpets Or Carpet Tiles?

Clare Louise

When selecting floor carpeting, the first thing you might get confused with is whether to go with carpet tiles—also known as carpet squares— or wall-to-wall carpets—broadloom carpet.  Well, it depends upon your preferences and your project’s need. Wall-to-wall carpets are great for high-end projects and are known for their luxurious, push feel.  Carpet tiles, on the other hand, are cost-effective and easy to install, while still offering versatility in designs.

As you can see, both options stand out. Now it’s time to have a closer look at the benefits and drawbacks of each type in detail. So, let’s get started:

Wall-To-Wall Carpets

Advantages

  • With the seamless finish, wall-to-wall carpets offer you a wide range of options in designs, colors, and patterns.
  • They are available in the greatest array of qualities in terms of construction, fiber type, and price.
  • Each fiber offers unique features of acoustics and comfort levels.

Disadvantages

  • Wall-to-wall carpet is a bit pricier option. However, they are not as costly but you may need to spend lots of money on their cleaning and replacement every few years as they damaged soon if not taken care of properly.
  • The installation of wall-to-wall carpets is more time-consuming, labor-intensive, and produces more waste as compared to carpet tiles. These all factors contribute to extra cost.

Carpet Tiles

The small swatches of carpets are fixed directly to your floors in creative ways for unique patterning. Also known as modular carpet, carpet tiles are available in planks—rectangular variants—as well as in a range of sizes such as 48×48, 50×50, 60×60, and 96×96 cm. Carpet tiles from so many manufacturers come in a variety of other creative shapes.

Advantages

  • As compared to wall-to-wall carpets, carpet tiles are a good choice as they tend to be more budget-friendly in terms of both upfront and in total cost. Their installation is easier, quicker, and produces less waste than wall-to-wall carpets.
  • Another major reason why people prefer installing carpet tiles in their homes is due to their easy removal. This factor is extremely beneficial for maintenance. If a single tile becomes overly soiled or damaged, this can be removed and replaced easily with a new one. You won’t have to remove the entire carpet.

Disadvantages

  • While carpet tiles offer a wide range of benefits, their main drawback is they don’t come in a variety of qualities as wall-to-wall carpeting does. In fact, some companies offer custom designing options to their clients and customers. Even still, they may not be the right fit for your home in terms of qualities and designs.

So, What Should I Go For?

Well, both wall-to-wall carpets and carpet tiles are good on their own. To us, a combo of both options is the best solution. You can use carpet tiles where savings and practicality are your major concerns and wall-to-wall carpets in heavily designed or break-out areas. Both choices are equally great! We hope we’ve cleared your confusion between the two!
